Anger Management

Do you have an Anger problem or is your anger causing distress to you or others around you?

It’s important to understand what’s causing your anger problems and to seek professional help before things get totally out of control for yourself and for those you care about.

Anger is a natural response to pain of one form or another (physical or emotional). It can occur when we feel rejected, threatened or experience forms of loss. It is an instinctive response to when we are unfairly treated or when we feel disrespected and let down.

"Where there is anger, there is always pain underneath"

- ECKHART TOLLE

Not all anger is bad and some anger is necessary for our survival, it generally becomes a problem when

  • It occurs too frequently

  • You react physically and verbally abusive to others

  • You say and do things you regret afterwards

Anger and Angry outbursts can be triggered by a variety of situations:

  • Unmet needs

  • Grief - Loss

  • Disappointment - Expectations not met

  • Guilt - Shame

  • Unforgiveness - resentment - revenge or bitterness

  • Substance abuse (alcohol & other drugs)

  • Vitamin deficiency

  • Boundaries being violated

  • Anger management is the process of learning how to recognise the signs that you're becoming angry. You cannot control every situation you face, it’s about learning how to manage your attitude through counselling as anger can be a healthy emotion when you learn how to express it correctly.
